How I came to sell CaluTech UV Air Purifiers… and why

I sell whole house in-duct UV air purifiers on ebay also, and I can tell you that there are major differences in ones being sold. First off, you should NEVER buy one that produces ozone! Ozone is dangerous to humans, and can actually cause serious problems with people who have asthma. Government studies have proven that. Other things to watch out for: The cheap ones being sold are just that - cheap. Probably made overseas with 2nd grade parts. You may buy one and it may light up, but if the power supply isn’t big enough for it, it won’t produce the UV needed to kill pathogens, mold, spores, etc. You would be surprised how many cheap units are out there! The units I sell from CaluTech are UL and CSA approved, which means that they have been tested thoroughly and will work as advertised. It is also FDA applied for. See if the one you are checking out has those credentials. UV-C air purification will work in alleviating asthma and allergy conditions in the home. UV-C has been proven to kill airborne pathogens effectively if applied with enough wattage. That’s why the Sharper Image Ionic Breeze units didn’t work well. They only have a low wattage bulb and no fan to pull the air by the UV light. I was going to buy one of those until I ran across the company (CaluTech) I sell these for now. Sharper put a lot of money and hype into those units and it paid off. People thought they really worked. Three years ago, I was in the market for something to help my wife’s allergies and was looking at paying good $$$ for a Sharper Image unit. I stumbled across CaluTech’s site and contacted them. I told them I was shopping around and that their whole house unit was cheaper than the Sharper Image unit I was looking at. Doug showed me information on the Sharper Image that made me change my mind and go with their Unit. I would be happy to answer any questions anyone has on helping their breathing allergies with UV air purification. Just post here and we will get you the straight answers you need to make a good decision.

I know that there are a LOT of folks that suffer miserably with allergies and asthma every day and have given up on trying to find a simple relief from it. Just know that there is relief out there. CaluTech products have helped many, many folks suffering from asthma and allergies. Some have even have been able to reduce or eliminate some medications they took for airborne allergy issues because of the benefits that the UV air purifier had on their health. Read the testimonials. They are from real people and are not made up like some others. Here are 2 links: Mine and CaluTech’s. Some of the testimonials on my site are borrowed from CaluTech’s site, but all are real.

Avian flu virus and CaluTech Air Purifiers

Our UV units provide enough UV killing power to easily kill the Avian Flu virus. Something to be aware of if the USA has an outbreak. Having one of our units installed in your home or office will give added protection to this deadly strain of virus (HN51).

AHAM article clip on Ozone air cleaners

This clipping was from an article titled “Filtering Through The Hype: Air Cleaners Are Not All the Same” on the AHAM website http://www.aham.org/, dated May 31, 2006.

“Another category of devices called ozone generators purposefully emit ozone. This type of product has received the most attention in the media for the potential adverse health effects on some people. Because of these concerns, legislation has been introduced in California which, if enacted, would ban the sale of ozone generators in the state. See the resource guide below for the link to the recommendation to ban ozone generators in California and the EPA’s fact sheet on ozone generators.

AHAM does not object to legislation aimed at ozone generators, but strongly believes any regulation must distinguish these products from the many other useful, harmless products.”

Why new houses are potential health problems for some.

Today’s houses are built extra tight, and the problem lies in the fact that fresh air is not allowed to come in and replace the contaminated air inside the house. Folks and children with allergies or asthma will be especially susceptable to breathing problems because of this. The contaminants keep circulating in the house and keep the affected person constantly fighting the allergens in the air, thereby never getting any relief. With a CaluTech UV air purifier installed, you can clean and purify the air inside your home so it is cleaner than the outside air (which is also very contaminated), thereby bringing relief to your allergy and asthma symptoms. With the amount of asthma cases growing each year in adults as well as children, our UV air purifiers will bring real relief to these people. This is an investment in the health of you and your loved ones. Don’t you deserve to breathe easy again?

A little bit about VOC’s and what they are.

What are Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and where do they come from?

VOCs are gases given off by a number of indoor sources.

Formaldehyde is one of the most common VOCs. It is common in many building materials such as plywood, particleboard, and glues. Formaldehyde is also found in furnishings (furniture, drapes and carpets) and in some types of foam insulation. Other sources of VOCs and formaldehyde include burning of fuels: gas, wood, kerosene, and tobacco products. VOCs also come from personal care products such as perfumes and hair spray, from cleaning agents and dry cleaning fluid, paints, lacquers and varnishes, and from copying and printing machines.

VOCs can be released from a product for several years, though the amounts given off tend to be less as the product ages and “dries out”.

What symptoms do VOCs cause?

VOCs can cause irritation of the eyes, nose and throat, nausea and dizziness, and skin problems. Higher amounts can cause irritation of the lungs and wheezing. Higher exposures to formaldehyde may also cause memory problems and anxiety.
